Itinerary

Day 1Puerto Maldonado – Monkey Island – Canopy Walk – Wildlife Spotting

Depending on your flight’s arrival time in Puerto Maldonado, we will be picking you up from the airport. We will then transfer you to our local office. Here you can leave your belongings at our safe and carry just what you will be needing for the two days.

We will then transfer you to the boat pier. Here you will be embarking on our motor boat for a scenic ride to our Tambopata reserve Sandoval Lake lodge located in the Madre de Dios river.

After checking in, we will start the Lake Sandoval tour by visiting the monkey island. As the name suggests, the island is home to different species of monkeys. Our local expert will be giving you a detailed tour of the island.

We will then experience the canopy walk. You will be able to see the enormity of the Tambopata jungle on this experience. We will then return to the lodge for dinner.

Our local chef will be preparing an authentic Amazonian meal for dinner. After relishing a typical meal, we will head out for a short night tour to spot some black caimans and other nocturnal animals.

Day 2Tambopata National Reserve – Lake Sandoval Peru – Puerto Maldonado

We will be leaving quite early in the morning to see the parrot’s clay lick. It is an unmissable sight in Tambopata National Reserve. Over a hundred of different species of macaws, parrots and parakeets fly in to eat the clay. You will be able to spot the red bellied macaws and many others.

The clay here is known to contain a distinct mineral that helps them in digesting their food and to flush out toxins from their body. After the experience, we will be returning to the lodge. Our crew will be serving you an authentic Amazonian breakfast.

We will then cross the Madre de Dios river and set out on a short hike to witness the biodiversity of the Amazon basin. You will be spotting different plants and some distinct animals and birds. The region is popular for family of giant otters and some big caimans.

After the experience, we will be returning to the lodge for lunch. Early in the evening at around 0400 PM, we will be taking the boat back to the city of Puerto Maldonado. Our crew will be meeting you at the boat pier and will be transferring you back to the city centre or airport.
