The sacred valley is a must see tour. Jonathan was our guide, and went above and beyond delivering historical information and interesting factoids about all of the sites. He anticipated... read more any delays (some people did not buy tickets prior to the tour) and got their site tickets in advance while they were exploring something else. As other reviewers have said, there are some stops where there is somewhat of a sales pitch while receiving an explanation of how goods are made. However, there is no expectation to make a purchase and prices weren't bad anyway. I recommend this tour to anyone.
So much history and beauty in one day - The tour and the guide were wonderful in showing us all of these places I've wanted to see forever.
It was a great information dump then being able... read more to walk among those places we spoke of was quite the incredible experience.
While it was certainly a long day, it was very very much worth it and I'd do it 100 times over.
A bit salesy, but a very knowledgeable and friendly guide - I did the tour on September 1 and overall would recommend it
The tour was a bit too salesy for my taste, with stops at three places for buying... read more items (including one at a run-of-the-mill convenience stop for chocolate tasting and one in which the textile demonstration barely spoke any English to a combined English/Spanish group, such that I had to translate for the English-only speakers). The buffet lunch was also mediocre, although certainly better fare than the buffet breakfasts and lunches offered in other similar tours.
Nonetheless, our guide was extremely insightful for all the archaeology/nature stops in Chinchero, Pisaq, Ollantaytambo and Maras salt mines. The tour guide, whose name unfortunately escapes me (Rodolfo?), was able to provide plenty of information in both English and Spanish and was happy to answer the several questions I had. We were also able to complete everything in the tour and still be back in time for dinner. The tour guide and driver were both so dependable with pickup and dropoff as well as with information provided during the tour that I ended up booking a second tour with the tour agent/operator for Rainbow Mountain, which they were able to accommodate on short notice!
Overall, as long as you are OK with the sales part of the tour, the trip was a success and I would recommend this tour specifically and this operator generally.
Everything Was Perfectly Organised - Thanks John for such an inquisitve tour to the sites in Sacred Valley of the Incas. I learnt so many interesting things about the history and Andean history. It was... read more ideal doing this before visiting Machu Picchu.
