Cusco to Sacred Valley VIP Tour - Sacred Valley Peru Tour

The Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley of Peru are a must in Peru, if not all of South America. The Sacred Valley of the Incas, as the name suggests, held great significance for the Incas in Cusco’s region. Since agriculture was their primary occupation, the fertile land along the banks of the Urubamba River greatly favored them.

The Cusco to Sacred Valley Tour offers a detailed insight into the life and culture of the Incas and Andean traditions. On this full-day journey, you will visit Chinchero, Maras and Moray, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, and the Pisac ruins.

A sector of the Chinchero Archaeological site

This Sacred Valley Peru Tour is one of our signature tours. We have a dedicated team of English-speaking travel experts to guide this tour. To enhance the Cusco Sacred Valley Tour experience, we will serve you a buffet lunch at a local restaurant in Urubamba.

The tour begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco to Pisac. We will then take you to Ollantaytambo, Urubamba, the Maras Salt Mines, the Moray agricultural terraces, and Chinchero.

Each archaeological site in the Sacred Valley Peru tour has a different story. You will discover them on this full-day tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas with our English-speaking local tour guide.

We are a fully locally owned tour company in Cusco. The Sacred Valley Peru Tour operates daily in small groups and as a private tour.

We highly recommend doing this before your Machu Picchu Tour to gain insight into Andean traditions and the Inca civilization.

At the end of the tour, we will take you back to Cusco and drop you off on Plateros Street, just two minutes from the Plaza de Armas.

Itinerary

Cusco to Sacred Valley Tour - Sacred Valley Peru

Our Sacred Valley Peru Tour will begin at 07:00 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in the City of Cusco. We will then embark on a 45 minutes drive to visit Chinchero.

Chinchero:

Locals here are known for their handicrafts. People here have maintained their age-old traditions and customs. In fact, most people still continue to converse in Quechua.

We will be visiting the archaeological complex which was once the summer capital of the Incas. Emperor Pachacutec built a beautiful Royal Palace here. It was demolished during the Spanish conquest and a Cathedral was built on its remains.

After visiting Chinchero, we will be driving you to Moray.

Moray:

These circular terraces were used as agricultural laboratories during the Inca empire.

Moray farming terraces are circular terraces dug into the ground. Each level has a different temperature. This allowed the Incas to determine the best weather condition needed to grow any crop. After an immersive tour, we will be driving you to Maras.

Moray's round terraces turn more yellow during the dry season

Maras:

Maras is home to salt mines.  Locals continue to extract salt using the traditional Solar Evaporation method.

After visiting Maras, we will be driving you to Ollantaytambo. On our way, we will be stopping in Urubamba for a buffet lunch.

An old lady stares at the salt ponds located in Maras

Ollantaytambo:

We will then drive you to Ollantaytambo. To the Incas, Ollantaytambo was an administrative capital. During Pachacutec’s rule, the village saw rapid development.

Here we will be giving you a guided tour of the complex. Today, Ollantaytambo is where you will be boarding the train to Aguas Calientes to visit Machu Picchu. It is also the closest major town to the trailhead of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Once you have had your fill of this beautiful village, we will be driving you to Pisac.

An inside look of the Ollantaytambo ruins.

Pisac:

Here we will be visiting the archaeological remains perched on a hilltop at 2972 meters (9750 feet) above sea level. It is just second to Machu Picchu in size.

The imposing Inca site features farming terraces, a drainage system, and remains of Inca temples, and ceremonial sites. Pisac is also popular in the traditional market. Locals from the neighboring villages sell their products here at quite a reasonable price, the best place to shop for some souvenirs.

After the tour, we will embark on an hour’s drive back to Cusco City.

Multiple terraces cover almost the entirety of Pisaq's mountain
