The Manu Reserved Zone Tours of six days offer an in-depth insight into life deep in the Manu Reserve Peru

Manu National Park is in Madre de Dios province, some 200 kilometres from Cusco. It is the largest part of the Amazon Rainforest. The cloud forest and lowland forest covers 1532806 hectares and rise from 150 metres above sea level to 4200 metres. 

Manu Jungle comprises three different zones – Manu Core Zone, Cultural Zone and Manu Biosphere Reserve. Most of the tours take you to the cultural and reserved zones. Manu core zone is closed for visitors. It is exclusive to researchers and scientists. 

Manu rainforest is home to over 32 indigenous communities. Most of these communities have maintained their age-old traditions and customs. 

Among all the Amazonian regions in Peru, Manu is the most visited one. Primarily because of its close proximity to Cusco. This allows travellers to embark on a five to six hours drive after visiting Machu Picchu and other attractions.

Moreover, Manu National Park is home to some distinct flora and fauna. several species of monkeys, distinct river otters like giant otters, black caimans and more.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Paradise Lodge

The six days Manu Reserved Zone Tours experience begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco. We will then embark on a two hours drive to a rustic town called Huancarani where we will be stopping for breakfast. 

After relishing a native meal, we will drive you to the folkloric town called Paucartambo. The tour guide will be explaining to you the prominence of the native practices in the Andean customs. 

Once you have had your fill of this charismatic town, we will be continuing the drive to the Amazon Region. On our way, we will be having a brief stop at a viewpoint called Tres Cruces. From here, you will get a panoramic view of the Amazon basin.

From here it is a downhill drive to Manu National Park. 

Our first stop will be San Pedro. The tour guide will be introducing you to Amazonian traditions. You will also get to spot the Peruvian National Bird, Andean Cock of the Rock. 

After this detailed tour, we will be driving you to the Jungle Lodge, Paradise lodge. Here we will be accommodating you in an ensuite room for the night. 

Day 2Paradise Lodge - Palotoa Ecological Reserve

After relishing a typical breakfast, we will embark on a short drive to Atalaya Boat Pier in Boca Manu. Here we will be embarking on a motorboat ride on Madre de Dios river deep into the Amazon Rainforest. 

We will be having a brief stop at Aguas Calientes. It is home to hot springs. 

On this short boat ride along the Manu River, you will get a glimpse of different flora and faunas. Most are distinct to the specific region. Our guide will be talking to you about them.

We will be reaching the eco-lodge by noon. Our crew will be accommodating you in an ensuite room here. We will then serve a typical Amazonian meal for lunch. Please let us know in advance if you have any special meal preferences. 

After lunch, we will be doing a night tour where you will get to spot some nocturnal animals and creatures. 

We will then return to the lodge. 

Day 3Palotoa Lodge - Inchipato River Camping

On the third day of the six days, Manu Reserved Zone Tours offers a unique experience. At daybreak, we will be hiking through a less explored trail. You will get to see different species of birds, animals, and plants. We will be serving a boxed meal. 

Cerambyx scarabs are commonly found in the night.

Later at noon, you will have some free time to take a dip in the fresh waters of Madre de Dios river by our exclusive campsite. 

We will then return to the campground. Our crew will be serving you dinner here. We will then do a short night tour where you will get to spot a few more nocturnal creatures. 

Day 4Inchipato River Exploring

We will begin the day quite early. After breakfast, we will hike further into the pristine zone. As it is quiet in the morning, you will have the opportunity to spot more animals and birds. You will get to spot Tapirs, Deer, River Otters, Monkeys.

We will then stop to do fishing in the clear waters of the river. You can also take a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters. We will then do barbeque using the freshly caught fish in bamboo canes and Heliconia or Banana leaves. 

After witnessing the sunset, we will be hiking to our campsite amidst the virgin forest. We will set up a campfire. Our chef will serve some freshly cooked local meals for dinner. 

Day 5Inchipato River - Palotoa Lodge

After breakfast, we will begin our hike back to Palotoa Lodge. We will be hiking through a different trail, you will have more opportunities to spot plants, birds, and animals. 

Enjoy the final night in Manu by relaxing in the tropical rainforest.

Once at the lodge, we will be serving a typical Amazonian lunch. You will then have some free time to relax and unwind the hammocks.

Day 6Palotoa Lodge - Cusco

After relishing a typical Amazonian breakfast, we will be taking the boat back to Atalaya port. Here our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.
